EXPLORING STUDENTS’ INTERESTS AND CHALLENGES IN WRITING FICTION IN CREATIVE WRITING CLASS

ABSTRACTThis article explored students' interests and challenges in writing fiction EFL creative classes. The study used a qualitative approach involving 43 college students studying as the subjects of study. Research instruments for this were questionnaires interviews, first which asked what genres they interested in, second confirmed their motivations genre fiction. Data from analysed using percentages, while data interviews thematic analysis (Braun & Clarke, 2006). Findings revealed that (1) most (53.5%) preferred romance fiction, (2) experienced short stories including difficulties developing an exciting story, deciding on plot elaborate dialogues, defining characters story.ABSTRAKPenelitiaan ini mengeksplorasi minat dan tantangan mahasiswa dalam menulis fiksi di kelas kreatif EFL. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan melibatkan yang mempelajari penulisan sebagai subjek penelitian. Instrumen penelitian untuk adalah kuesioner wawancara, pertama menanyakan kepada siswa apa mereka minati, kedua mengkonfirmasi motivasi fiksi. hasil dianalisis persentase, sedangkan wawancara analisis tematik Temuan mengungkapkan bahwa sebagian besar (53,5%) tertarik lebih suka roman, mengalami cerita pendek termasuk kesulitan mengembangkan menarik, menentukan dialog terperinci, mendefinisikan karakter cerita.How to Cite: Dewi, U., Siregar, F.
